PORTRAIT WORK
CARL GRAUER PORTRAIT & FINE ART
With over 10 years experience with the art of portraiture, Grauer has worked on many commissions and has built a strong body of work and talent. Having been originally trained as a medical illustrator, Grauer continued his training with various studios, spent two years in London studying figurative and portrait painting. He has shown work internationally, including exhibiting with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in London and has recently been featured on ABC World News Now for his series of Two Hour Portraits. Below are two options in which to experience Grauer's portraiture.
A Two Hour Portrait™ is a short alla prima sitting of two hours per person where the final piece is completed within one sitting. A Two Hour Portrait™ is painted from in a span of two hours with one ten minute break. From start to finish it takes about 3 hours. It is, at the root, a practice of confident and creative strokes and rendered likeness at a quick pace. Painting from life is a preferred method, as it will depict a more genuine and life-like quality that is not replicated with the flattening quality of a photograph. It is recommended to have a live sitting for the Two Hour Portrait™.
For those interested in purchasing, the price of an original Two Hour Portrait™ is $500 or you have the option of a signed print for $100.
The final painting is available within two weeks after the painting has dried and sealed. Upon completion, it is delivered to the client.

A longer more “finished” portrait is completed over a several sittings and typically features a figure(s) within a scene or environment. A sitting typically takes three to five hours at the start of the portrait, and then another three to five hours at the end of the finished portrait. Painting from life is a preferred method, as it will depict a more genuine and life-like quality that is not replicated with the flattening quality of a photograph.
If time, distance or other factors conflict, photo reference remains a magnificent mode for a final composition. The final painting is usually completed within three months after the start date. Upon completion it is reviewed by the client and delivered. Final payment is made at this time including any travel and or shipping expenses.
